AEGIS

The AEGIS shield — a green neon shield with a check mark

Our FREE backup tool — one click, and every copy is proven good.

AEGIS (say it “EE-jis”) backs up your files to your own drive — an external or USB drive is perfect. Tick the folders, pick the drive, press the one big button. Every file is copied and then checked, file by file, so you know the copy is good — not hoped, known.

🛡️ How it works

You can back up anywhere you choose — an external drive, a USB stick, another folder, even the same drive. AEGIS never refuses a destination you picked, and you can remove a destination and pick a different one whenever you like. One honest word of advice: a copy on a separate drive is the one that saves you if a drive dies — a same-drive copy dies with it. Where your backup goes is your call, and AEGIS backs your call.

✅ Every copy proven

Each file is verified with a sha256 check after copying. When a run finishes you get a plain-words receipt: what was copied and verified, anything skipped and why, anything that failed — named honestly, never hidden. If a run is interrupted, the receipt says “This backup did not finish” and lists what did get safely copied.

Your backup is a plain dated folder you can browse with any file manager — your files in their normal folders, readable forever, no AEGIS required.

↩️ Restore is built in

The RESTORE screen inside the program hands your files back: pick a past backup, pick what you want, pick where it goes — verified the same way, with the same honest receipt.

🔒 Your files stay on your machine

AEGIS has no network code at all — not “network off”, none in the program, proven by scan and by watching it run. No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry, no update checks. Your files go only to the drive you choose — nowhere else, ever.

FREE forever. The fixed edition — AEGIS 1.1, the Multi Lang Update — is out now, below. Free forever, like everything from 777 Software. The program is complete for everyone.

🔧 Fixed — and back

This page briefly paused while we fixed two things Steven caught in his own testing. Both are fixed: you can remove a destination after picking one, and you can back up anywhere — the same drive included. Same program, same fixes, on Linux and Windows both.

Both builds carry one more fix from Steven's testing: the window scrolls the way it should, and the big BACK UP NOW button now stays pinned in view at the bottom — no more hunting for it on small screens.

✨ NEW — AEGIS 1.1, the Multi Lang Update — now in English · Español · Deutsch (2026-10-30)

Our own review found places where AEGIS could confuse the very people it is meant to protect. 1.1 is the fix for every one of them:

The old 1.0 downloads stay retired — they carried the confusion this update fixes. 1.1 is the edition to use.

🐧 Linux — 1.1

Unpack it, run ./Aegis. The HOW-TO-RUN guides inside — in English, Spanish and German — walk through everything in plain words — backing up, restoring, and exactly what AEGIS will never do to your files.

🪟 Windows

Windows 1.1 is built from this same source, language packs included: Steven compiles it in the house Windows guest, and it lands here the moment it is verified — the build kit is ready. (The old 1.0 Windows downloads stay retired — they carried the confusion this update fixes.)

Terminal way (Linux): ./Aegis --headless-backup FOLDER --to DEST backs up without the window, and ./Aegis --headless-restore BACKUP_FOLDER --to DEST puts files back. ./Aegis --version tells you what you have.

💛 Admin tools run on kindness

AEGIS is free, full stop — and it stays free. The 777 Admin Tools line runs on donations: folks who can, chip in what they can afford, and the tools keep coming. If a donation is hard right now, the door is still open — message Steven on our X page and he'll take care of you, case by case.
