KEEPSAKE
Our FREE backup tool — one click, and every copy is proven good.
💛 A new name — Kim's name
This is the backup tool formerly called AEGIS. On November 1, 2026 it was renamed KEEPSAKE — a name given by Kim Jesse. The reason is simple: this house also builds ARGUS, and ARGUS and AEGIS sounded too much alike. They confused people — and Kim said so first. Same program, same promises, new name.
KEEPSAKE backs up your files to your own drive — an external or USB drive is perfect. Tick the folders, pick the drive, press the one big button. Every file is copied and then checked, file by file, so you know the copy is good — not hoped, known.
🛡️ How it works
- 1 · What to back up — tick your folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, and friends are ready for you). Add any folder you like.
- 2 · Where it goes — KEEPSAKE finds your external and USB drives by itself and shows the free space in plain words.
- 3 · BACK UP NOW — one huge button. Before anything copies, KEEPSAKE checks there is room — and says so in one plain sentence if there isn't.
You can back up anywhere you choose — an external drive, a USB stick, another folder, even the same drive. KEEPSAKE never refuses a destination you picked, and you can remove a destination and pick a different one whenever you like. One honest word of advice: a copy on a separate drive is the one that saves you if a drive dies — a same-drive copy dies with it. Where your backup goes is your call, and KEEPSAKE backs your call.
✅ Every copy proven
Each file is verified with a sha256 check after copying. When a run finishes you get a plain-words receipt: what was copied and verified, anything skipped and why, anything that failed — named honestly, never hidden. If a run is interrupted, the receipt says “This backup did not finish” and lists what did get safely copied.
Your backup is a plain dated folder you can browse with any file manager — your files in their normal folders, readable forever, no KEEPSAKE required.
↩️ Restore is built in
The RESTORE screen inside the program hands your files back: pick a past backup, pick what you want, pick where it goes — verified the same way, with the same honest receipt.
🔒 Your files stay on your machine
KEEPSAKE has no network code at all — not “network off”, none in the program, proven by scan and by watching it run. No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry, no update checks. Your files go only to the drive you choose — nowhere else, ever.
FREE forever. Free forever, like everything from 777 Software. The program is complete for everyone — and when it returns, it returns whole.
⏸️ Downloads are paused — KEEPSAKE is being perfected
KEEPSAKE's downloads are paused right now — on purpose. Steven's own testing, and our own review, found places where the program could confuse the very people it is meant to protect. A backup tool that confuses you is not finished, whatever else it does well.
So the program is being perfected: every confusion fixed, the whole app in all six house languages — everything in the app, in your language, throughout — and Steven's personal test as the gate it must pass. When it passes, the downloads return on this page, under the new name: KEEPSAKE, free forever.
✨ The 1.1 fix wave — the road here
The current program generation is 1.1, built to fix every confusion our review found:
- Your place stays picked. Refreshing the drive list no longer throws away a backup place you chose — and the program now says, in plain words, that backups start when you press the button (nothing runs by itself), and shows your last backup's time and place.
- Restore asks first. Before a restore replaces any file, a plain-words window names what will be replaced and waits for your yes. Nothing is overwritten silently, ever.
- Help is built in. A real Help menu (8 topics) and a plain-words tip on every control that needs one — plus a progress count while it works, so the window never sits silent at “Starting…”.
- KEEPSAKE never deletes. No button, no flow, no cleanup deletes, moves, or hides your files — proven by a full before/after tree check on every flow. Removing something from a list only un-lists it; unfinished backups stay on disk, honestly labeled.
- Three languages shipped in 1.1 — six in KEEPSAKE. A globe button on the main screen switches the whole app — buttons, help, receipts — and remembers your choice on your own machine. 1.1 shipped in English, Español and Deutsch, manuals included; the perfected KEEPSAKE edition carries all six house languages, everything, throughout.
The old 1.0 downloads stay retired — they carried the confusion these fixes remove. The perfected edition is the one to use.
🐧 Linux & 🪟 Windows
Both editions return on this page the moment the perfected KEEPSAKE passes Steven's personal test — Linux first, then the Windows build, compiled by Steven in the house Windows guest. Nothing to buy and nothing to unlock: when they land, they are free, complete, for everyone.
💛 Admin tools run on kindness
KEEPSAKE is free, full stop — and it stays free. The 777 Admin Tools line runs on donations: folks who can, chip in what they can afford, and the tools keep coming. If a donation is hard right now, the door is still open — message Steven on our X page and he'll take care of you, case by case.
