I Can Do This
One library, four books — tech explained like a patient friend sitting next to you, for the person who knows nothing about tech. And that's fine.
Most tech help is written for people who already know tech. These books are written for everybody else — for the person a phone or a computer makes nervous, who is sure they will break something, who has been made to feel foolish for asking. You will not find that feeling here. Not knowing is the starting point these books were built for — nothing about that needs fixing before you begin.
The family is four volumes under one roof. Every book stands on its own — you never have to read another one first. Start with whichever problem you have today.
📚 The four books
- Volume 1 · I Can Use My Phone — use your phone, and fix your phone. Calls, messages, photos, apps, settings — and the scary days: it won't turn on, it's full, it's lost, it's acting strange.
- Volume 2 · I Can Use My Computer — use a computer day to day: files, the internet, email, printing, putting new apps and screensavers on it, and keeping it tidy and healthy.
- Volume 3 · I Can Fix It and Keep It Safe — when a computer breaks, and how to keep it safe: it won't start, it's slow, strange things pop up — plus passwords, updates, and backups, explained calmly. This book is also home to the full take-a-PC-apart course below.
- Volume 4 · I Can Install Windows and Linux — the big guided jobs: putting Linux on a computer, and putting Windows on a computer — step by step, with honest danger stops that tell you exactly where to stop.
One library, four books. Pick the one that matches your day; the others will be here when you need them.
🤝 The standard every book is being written to
These books are being written now, to a standard we are not willing to bend:
- Detailed and thorough and easy to read. No skipped steps — the click between the clicks is a step, and it gets written down. Every lesson covers the whole job: what can go wrong, and how to back out safely if it does.
- Every step has a picture. The pictures carry the load — you can follow along by looking, not by guessing what words mean.
- Large, friendly reading. Big, calm pages that are easy on the eyes, on a screen or in the app.
- Plain words, defined where you meet them. Every technical word is explained in plain words right where it is used — never sent to the back of the book to hunt for. Each volume also carries its own definitions book: every word the volume uses, in one place, in plain words.
- A contents list in YOUR words. Every volume opens with a contents list written the way a reader would say it — "My phone won't turn on," not engineer-speak — and you can search it by the words you would actually type.
- Every scary step carries its warning up front. If a step can lose a photo or stop a machine, the book says so before the step — plainly, and with the way back.
- Written so simply a kid could follow. These books are written in language a seven-year-old could follow — while still covering the whole job, properly, for grown-ups. Simple words are not a smaller lesson; they are a clearer one.
- Made for the whole world. No slang that only makes sense in one town or one country — plain words that travel.
- Works fully offline, inside the app. No connection needed, no account, nothing to sign into — the book is on your device, and it stays there.
- Free — every book, for everybody. Every book in this family is free: free to download, free to keep, free forever. Learning not to be afraid of your own phone or computer should never cost money.
🔧 The teardown promise
The family will include a complete guided course to take a PC apart and put it back together — every part named and pictured, what it does in plain words, the safe order to take things out, and the safe order to put them back. It lives in Volume 3 · I Can Fix It and Keep It Safe, and it is being built and proven on a real PC: the course only ships when following its own steps, and nothing else, takes a real machine apart and brings it back to life.
