WARP STARFIELD
One painting of deep space — and you are flying through it. Forever.
Warp Starfield is a screensaver: a single deep-space painting — Earth, Mars, and Jupiter hung under violet and teal nebulas — opened fullscreen, edge to edge, with you diving endlessly into its bright glowing heart. Hundreds of star-streaks stream past on every side. When the dive reaches the heart, the light swells and you punch through it — and the flight goes on.
It is wordless — no text anywhere in it, no title, no clock. And it is silent. The flight is the whole product.
🌌 The flight — what you see
The dive runs on a cycle of about 48 seconds, and it never stops cycling:
- The dive — the painting slowly grows around you, a long calm zoom aimed at the nebula's glowing heart, between the planets. Earth, Mars, and Jupiter sweep outward past you as you fall in.
- The streaks — 340 stars stream radially outward from the same heart, each drawn as a short line of light, brightening and thickening as it nears you. Their speed breathes on a slow pulse, so the flight feels alive instead of mechanical.
- The punch-through — near the end of each cycle the heart's light swells, a sheet of bright core-light washes over the scene, and in that flash you cross the core: the wide painting is back and the dive begins again. Measured, the loop lands exactly where it started — no seam, no pause.
- The saucer — every minute or so, far away and small, a saucer crosses high in the frame: dark hull, faint cyan rim, three small lights breathing in sequence. It does not stop. It does not wave.
And it behaves like a proper screensaver: fullscreen when it starts, easy on the machine (it caps itself at 30 frames per second), and gone the instant you come back — any key, any click, or a real move of the mouse. A tiny mouse tremble is forgiven, so a bumped desk doesn't end the flight.
🖼️ The painting
One fixed painting carries the whole saver — a deep field with the three planets under violet and teal nebulas, and its bright heart as the dive's target. It fills your whole screen at any size, fitted edge to edge: no black bars, nothing stretched out of shape. Because the dive is a true zoom into the picture — measured, not a trick of overlays — the planets genuinely grow as you approach the heart.
🎛️ Settings — there aren't any
No speed dial, no color choices, no star count, no options panel — not hidden, not missing: none, by design. The flight was tuned once, carefully, and it simply runs. If a settings button ever asks, it tells you exactly that, in plain words. The only choices are your operating system's own: whether Warp Starfield is your screensaver, and how long your machine waits idle before it starts.
🤝 Honest, or nothing
- It is one painting, and it loops. About every 48 seconds the flight punches through the core and starts the dive again — a single still image cannot zoom forever, and the punch-through is built to read as part of the flight, not a glitch.
- It shows nothing useful — deliberately. No clock, no date, no notifications. It is a window to sit in front of, not a dashboard.
- It makes no sound. Ever. Music, if you want it, comes from your own player.
- It doesn't manage itself. It won't set your idle time, add itself to any startup list, or update itself. Setting it up is a thing you do once, in your system's own screensaver settings — the manual below walks through both systems, step by step.
🔒 Your machine, your business
No accounts — nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign into. No network — the program never connects to anything; there is no server for it to talk to. No telemetry, no analytics, no update checks: nothing about you or your machine is collected, because nothing is collected at all. The program, its painting, and its source code sit in one folder on your machine — and deleting that folder deletes all of it.
⬇️ Downloads
The long code under each button is a fingerprint of the exact file, for people who want to check their download is untouched — you do not need it to install or run Warp Starfield.
✨ NEW — the Multi Lang Update, now in English · Español · Deutsch (2026-10-30)
The Multi Lang Update is Warp Starfield's language edition — the confusion-fix edition, the same flight, with its help, settings and install helper now in three languages. It sits beside the original v1.0 below; both stay available. What changed:
- The Linux "make it real" flow now works.
The package ships the xscreensaver hook
(
make-it-my-screensaver.py) that adds Warp to xscreensaver's list and picks it — it saves a spare copy of your settings first and removes nothing. (The v1.0 package's notes promised this hook but did not include it; this edition includes it, proven end to end.) - "It's on" now speaks. Every install path ends with the check that tells you it worked.
- Help travels with the program. A plain-words HOW-TO-USE (6 topics) ships inside both packages, and the Windows zip adds README-Windows.txt explaining the .scr-vs-.exe choice at the point of choice.
--helpis help now — it prints the how-to and exits, instead of silently launching fullscreen.- Removing it is written down — uninstall guidance inside both packages and in the Removing section below, naming exactly the saver's own files.
- Settings can no longer fail silently on Windows.
- Nothing of yours is ever deleted: this edition was swept for delete paths — zero delete calls in any shipped file; the hook's only write is your xscreensaver settings file, backup first.
- The flight itself is unchanged — the starfield engine is byte-for-byte the shipped v1.0 flight.
- Now in English, Español and Deutsch:
the 🌐 globe selector in Settings (Linux:
./WarpStarfield --settings— Windows: Settings…) switches Help, the settings box and the Linux screensaver helper between languages, saved on your own computer. The flight itself has no words in any language — and it is byte-for-byte the shipped flight (proof frame identical).
