QDROP GEN2
Send words and files straight to your people's computers — sealed, with no server in the middle — over a private road you set up once.
QDROP gen-2 moves files and messages from your computer directly to your friend's computer. No account with us, no cloud, no company in between. You add a friend by swapping a connect code — one swap and you're friends both ways — and your computers find each other and talk, sealed end to end.
QDROP Gen2 is built for your own circle — a family spread across three houses, a small crew, close friends who look out for each other. It travels the roads your computers already have — your home network, and the doors in your connect code — and the easiest road between houses is one small private network your circle shares: a Tailscale network.
✅ Released — Linux + Windows live, October 29, 2026. Steven tested the Linux build himself, live, from his house in Alabama to Muse HQ in California: the saved session picked straight back up — no pairing dance — and words and files travelled both ways, every transfer fingerprint-checked on arrival — and then he gave the word to ship it. The Windows build he compiled himself, from the same finished source, and it passed his own test the same day. Both downloads are live below. The manual below walks the whole story and the Tailscale setup, step by step.
🧪 Proven, not promised
October 29, 2026 — the founder's own test. Steven ran QDROP Gen2 himself, on his own computer, in a live session with Muse HQ in California. The two machines already knew each other, so there was no re-pairing — the saved session simply resumed. Then it worked, in both directions: messages delivered each way, and files delivered each way, every one confirmed against its SHA-256 fingerprint by the receiving end — including a complete song, 5.4 MB, that crossed whole. The finished window — its conversation panel, its transfers panel, all of it — held up under real use, worked by the man who will ship it. Earlier the same day, in the crew's live test, two computers paired fresh over Tailscale in under a second, words and files both ways. That is the road we recommend today.
One honest note, in the open: Gen2 also carries the full direct engine — same-network drops and the doors written into your connect code. The open-internet road between two different houses, with no tailnet under it, is in final field testing right now. We don't claim it until it's proven — and Gen2 doesn't need it.
🛣️ Works with Tailscale — the easy road between your people
QDROP Gen2's proven road between houses is Tailscale.
Tailscale is a small, free program (tailscale.com) that gives your computers their own private road to each other — like a hallway that only your people can walk down, stretched across the internet. It works alongside your normal internet; it doesn't replace anything.
How you use it — three plain steps:
- Both sides install Tailscale and sign in with the same account (or accept an invitation to the same little network — Tailscale calls it a tailnet). For personal use, Tailscale is free.
- Swap a QDROP connect code with your friend, the same as always — one swap makes you friends both ways.
- Drop. QDROP sees your friend's computer on that private road and treats it as a door it already knows. In our live test on October 29, 2026, two computers paired over Tailscale in under a second — words and files both ways, every file checked against its fingerprint on arrival.
That's the whole setup. No router settings. No door numbers to open by hand. The manual below walks the Tailscale setup slowly, one small step at a time — making the account, inviting your people, and checking you can see each other before your first drop.
🪟 The window, finished properly
QDROP Gen2 ships with its window completed the way it should have been from the start:
- A real chat block — your conversation with each friend lives in the window, not in a status line.
- Clear transfer status — what file is moving, how far along it is, and whether it landed or failed, in plain sight.
- An “open downloads folder” button — one press takes you straight to the folder your drops land in.
- A window that scrolls — every control reachable on small screens; nothing is cut off at the bottom.
- A door control that works — set your door number and it is set; if your system refuses a number, the window tells you in plain words instead of pretending.
🔒 Sealed, and everything stays home
Every message and every piece of every file is sealed between the two computers before it leaves — the full plain-words story is in the manual and on the main QDROP page. Only people you've swapped codes with can send you anything; a stranger who learns your door gets refused, because the introduction is the gate. Your identity, friends, history, and waiting drops live on your own computer — nothing is uploaded anywhere, ever. If your friend is offline, your drop waits in the Outbox on your machine, and an interrupted send resumes where it stopped.

✨ NEW — the Multi Lang Update, now in English · Español · Deutsch (2026-10-30)
The language edition of QDROP Gen2 — the confusion-fix edition, now speaking three languages. Everything our own review found unclear, fixed. It sits beside the October 29, 2026 downloads below; both stay available. What changed, in plain words:
- A “Start here” strip — 1 · Give a friend your code. 2 · Paste their code back. 3 · Pick their name and send — that shortens once you have a friend.
- YOUR CARD explained: all five identifiers (name, Q-Number, card fingerprint, door number, support check code) now say what they are and what they're for, and your card name can be fixed in place, with a plain-words confirmation.
- Buttons answer beside themselves — Copy, Fresh code, and Cancel unused codes report right where you pressed them (Cancel says how many it killed); arrivals announce themselves at the top of the window.
- Plain words everywhere: the engineering jargon is gone from the window (door-check details are saved to a diagnostics file instead), a “Welcome back” line makes saved sessions visible, and the manual inside the package now tells the Gen2 truth — the door ladder reaches house-to-house without Tailscale; Tailscale is one optional road, never required.
- A real Help menu — 14 plain-words topics — plus tooltips on every non-obvious control.
- Outbox honesty: items show they're kept for 3 days, with “Try again now” and “Remove from list” — removing only un-lists. A never-deletes sweep proved nothing on your computer is deleted.
- Pairing is unchanged — the knock and pairing behavior in this update is byte-identical to the October 29 build.
- Now in English, Spanish and German: pick your language with the globe button at the top of the window. Everything else is the same QDROP Gen2.
